Toilet Stall Door Width
Key facts for understanding your bathroom partition dimensions.
Toilet stall door width. The minimum size for a separate toilet compartment is 30x60 inches. In a corner handicap stalls require a minimum of 60 x 60 compartment and is required with a minimum door size of 32 and the maximum size and more common is the 36 door. The minimum width of the stall is 60 inches 1525 mm. The toilet must be between 16 inches and 18 inches center from the closest wall or partition.
Figure 30 a standard stall. The size for a separate toilet compartment should be at least 36x66 inches with a swing out or pocket door. If toilet stall approach is from the latch side of the stall door clearance between the door side of the stall and any obstruction may be reduced to a minimum of 42 in 1065 mm. A simple overhead layout is the best route for all toilet partition quotes. As you enter the bathroom the door needs to be able to swing its width into the room without hitting the vanity or toilet. The overall width should equal the sum of adding up each stall width. This means that if the door width is 32 inches you must have a passage.
The minimum width of the stall is 60 inches 1525 mm. The layout should include where your tiled walls are as well as how wide and deep the compartments you want them to be. However stall depth can be anywhere between 48 inches to 78 inches as needed. To satisfy ada requirements all newly constructed square restroom stalls must have doors that swing outward with no more than four inches from the diagonal corner to the toilet.
Figure 30 a standard stall. For commercial bathrooms with multiple toilet stalls and handicap the rules change a little. The location of the door is in front of the clear space and diagonal to the water closet with a maximum stile width of 4 inches 100 mm. Standard bathroom stall sizes rarely vary and tend to be 36 inches wide and 60 inches deep.
Multiple toilet stall layouts. Generally stall doors open inward but for ada accessible stalls the doors should open outward to make it easier for those with accessibility devices to enter and exit.
